Set amongst rolling green farmland and orchards within the Motueka Valley sits this gracious American style home.
The home sits elevated on a gentle rise with natural materials featuring both in the interior and the exterior. The exterior of the home was clad firstly in 12mm plywood and then finished with stained weatherboard overtop which gives wonderful insulation to the home. Timber 'tilt and turn' German designed windows feature throughout with beautifully hand crafted solid timber stairs which lead you to the second storey where seligna tongue and groove timber is laid on the floor. The home has full underfloor heating which is run from a boiler system, this also heats the hot water.
Consultation with a Nelson Engineering Company led to the design of pile supports which were driven to a depth of 3.9 metres into soft ground before works could start on the foundations for the home.
Whats unique about this home is the owners wanted not just a new house but a home, a place that was warm, comfortable and enjoyable to live in.
